They share a shape. Everyone gets the same thing except one person, the impostor, who gets something slightly different and has to bluff their way through without being caught. What changes between them is what your group needs to have on hand and how loud you are willing to be.

Impostor Word Game
Everyone is dealt the same secret word. The impostor gets a vague one-word hint instead, and does not know what the real word is. You go round the circle and each person says exactly one word out loud as a clue. Say something too obvious and you hand it to the impostor; say something too vague and the group starts suspecting you.
Seven categories, 550 words in total, and every word carries two possible hints so the same word plays differently the second time it comes round. Needs nothing but phones, which is why it is the one to start with. Play the Impostor Word Game.
Impostor Draw Game
Same idea, but everyone draws the word instead of describing it. One shared canvas, one turn at a time, each player in their own colour, and nobody can draw out of turn. You have to add enough to prove you know the word without spelling it out for the impostor, who is trying to fake a convincing line for a picture they cannot identify yet.
Four categories and 350 words, turns capped at 45 seconds, and the host sets between one and five rounds in the lobby. Voting opens by itself once the last turn is taken. Play the Impostor Draw Game.
Impostor Dance Game
The loud one, and the one that went viral. Everyone puts on headphones and hears the same song, except the impostor, who gets a completely different track. Everyone dances to what they can hear, and the group works out whose moves do not match the song.
This is the browser version of the Imposter Dance Challenge. Song categories run from today's pop through 80s and 90s hits to TikTok and Reels, Bollywood, Tamil and Malayalam. What you actually need
Very little, which is the point.
- A phone each. Any phone with a browser. iPhone, Android, or a laptop if you would rather. Nothing gets installed.
- Three people minimum, twenty maximum. Below three there is nobody to accuse.
- Headphones, for the dance game only. The other two need nothing.
The joining flow is the part people expect to be harder than it is. One person opens the game and taps Create. They get a 4-character room code and a QR code. Everyone else opens the same site on their own phone, taps Join, and types the four characters in, or points a camera at the QR code. That is the whole setup. No accounts, no invites, no email addresses, nothing to confirm.
Because it is all browser-based, it works over a video call too. The word and draw games are fine remotely. The dance game is better in person, since half the fun is watching people who cannot hear each other.
Why browser games and not apps
An app is fine when everyone already has it. The problem is the ten minutes when they do not: someone is out of storage, someone has forgotten their app store password, someone is on a version that will not connect to everybody else's. By the time the group is assembled, the energy that made someone suggest a game in the first place has usually gone.
